Seeing You, I Changed is a concertina-style book that reflects on the impact that sibling relationships have on personal development, focusing on my own bond with my older sister.

Research

Inspired by the quote “And when I see you, how it changes me” (Roma Fade by Andrew Bird), I explored how growing up as the youngest sibling meant constantly observing and mirroring my sister, while also questioning how she perceived our dynamic.

To enrich the project, I collaborated with her through conversations and shared childhood photos, turning the book into a dialogue.

Process

Because these memories were tied to our time living in Spain, specifically Catalunya, I researched the colours, typography and playful Catalan graphic design from the mid-2000s and incorporated these influences into the book's visual identity.

Through this project, I learned the value of collaboration, trusting my intuition and embracing playfulness, making it relatable not only to my family but potentially to others reflecting on their own formative relationships.

Including my sister's perspective was also influenced by the TV show's narrative.
Made me decide to keep the book minimalistic.

All references influenced the book's colours, but this one had the most impact.
